Poet Melissa Dickey will share new work. Playwright and screenwriter Eleanor Burgess will share her work and give a look behind the scenes writing for HBO’s Perry Mason.
Melissa Dickey is a Hermitage Fellow and the author of two books of poetry, Dragons (Rescue Press, 2016) and The Lily Will (Rescue, 2011). She earned degrees from the University of Washington and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her poems, nonfiction, and reviews have appeared in jubilat, Puerto del Sol, Columbia Poetry Review, the Spectacle, the Laurel Review, and Kenyon Review Online, among other publications. Born and raised in New Orleans, she now lives at a boarding school in Western Massachusetts, where she teaches literature and writing.
Eleanor Burgess, a returning Hermitage Fellow, is a playwright and television writer whose work has been produced at Manhattan Theatre Club, McCarter Theatre, Geffen Playhouse, Huntington Theatre Company, The Alliance Theatre, Writers Theatre, Finborough Theatre, Milwaukee Rep, Geva Theatre Center, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, The Contemporary American Theatre Festival, Portland Stage Company, and Centenary Stage, and developed with The New Group, New York Theatre Workshop, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Salt Lake Acting Company, the Lark Play Development Center, and the Kennedy Center/NNPN MFA Playwrights Workshop. She has been a member of the Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group at Primary Stages, Page 73’s writers’ group Interstate 73, The Civilians’ R&D Group, and New York Theatre Workshop’s 2050 Fellowship. She has also been a staff writer for Perry Mason on HBO. Originally from Brookline, Massachusetts, she studied history at Yale College and Dramatic Writing at NYU/Tisch.
