The health and safety of our artists, guests, and staff are top priorities. As a founding partner of the #SafeArtsSarasota initiative, the Hermitage Artist Retreat is adhering to mutually agreed safety protocols and following #SafeArtsSarasota guidelines. 

General Programs and Events

Due to capacity limitations and social distancing at both outdoor and indoor events, registration is required at HermitageArtistRetreat.org.

Most Hermitage programs are presented outdoors in the fresh air. For these events, audiences are asked to follow social-distancing guidelines, limiting two guests per designated seating area, clearly marked upon arrival.

These events are held outdoors on varying surfaces (including grass, beach, and solid flooring). Frequent venues include the Hermitage Beach, Selby Gardens, Bay Park Sarasota, and dozens of other outdoor locations throughout Sarasota County. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.

While the performers and speakers may remove masks to present during outdoor programs, face masks are respectfully encouraged among guests. We ask our audiences to continue practicing social-distancing at all times, and to be mindful of the safety and comfort of those around you.

Additional hand sanitizers and masks will be available at check-in.

For any indoor events, full #SafeArtsSarasota protocols will be implemented, including masks and proper documentation as outlined below.

#SafeArtsSarasota Protocols:

All patrons attending an event indoors must show either a negative PCR test for COVID-19 administered by a medical provider/official testing center (taken no earlier than 72 hours before the start time of the event) or a negative rapid antigen COVID-19 test administered by a medical provider/official testing center (taken no earlier than 24 hours prior to the start time of the event). Home testing kit results will not be accepted for entry. Both physical and electronic presentation of official documents will be accepted.

If patrons prefer, CDC or other official vaccination record showing the patrons are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least 14 days since the final dose) may be presented at the door as an alternative to negative COVID-19 test results.

Photo identification must accompany the presentation of all documents.

All patrons at indoor events, regardless of vaccination/testing status, must wear masks over their nose and mouth at all times while inside the venue.

Additionally, for events with table seating (i.e., Hermitage Greenfield Prize Dinner and Hermitage Artful Lobster):

    • Masks and individual hand sanitizers will be provided at the tables for each guest.
    • Capacity will be limited to accommodate greater social distancing, so early reservations are strongly encouraged. (For an additional surcharge, guests may request private socially distanced tables.)
    • All serving staff will be wearing masks and will be serving all dishes; there will be no ‘self-serve.’
    • Masks may be removed temporarily for the purposes of eating or drinking.
